Welcome DCWL Enthusiasts,
I am Julianne Moore, to call myself a wrestling fan would be an understatement. Over the past fifteen years; which is saying a lot with me only being 23, I have been intertwined with wrestling around the world. Which brings me to the great DCWL!
Wednesday's show was the best(by far) of the regenerated promotion. We saw many twists, surprises, and new faces. The following is a chronological review of the show.
Mina Eyre v. Gabrielle RioPaah
This was a physical match that saw some pretty good action from both ladies. Mina would get, what I would call a somewhat upset over Gabrielle, solidifying her as a top contender in the Sirens division. I believe Gabrielle is still a solid competitor, and showed a lot of skill. She just needs to look to put her opponents away more often. Definitely was a good showing from, "The Vamp."
The Big Nasty and American Freebear v. Ert Williams and Killa 187
This started out as a match between The Big Nasty against American Freebear, when Ert Williams, Killa 187, and Ace Stevens(aka Da Ace Killas) made their return, disrupting the match.
This promoted Kevin Alloy to come out, kick Ace Stevens from ringside and have an improtu match between the two teams. Nasty and Freebear dismantled Williams and 187, in a match that will hopefully lead to a tag team division in the DCWL. Nasty would take 187 out with a vicious Chokeslam.
After the match Williams would drop 187 with a Chokeslam of his own. I was extremely impressed with American Freebear, he showed great agility and speed for someone his size. He is one of the most gifted wrestlers I've seen so far in DCWL, his skillset is even better than our current(unfortunately) Grand Champion, Julian Beckson.
Afterward, Leon Corella showed up and was interviewed by Dan Clear, promising to dismember the most impressive rookie in the region, Maurice Thompson later tonight. Corella's intensity is impressive, almost as much as his wrestling has been lately.
Following Corella, a wrestler known as Sledge who has made a name for himself showed up backstage claiming to be ready to sign a contract with DCWL. This would be a big coup for DCWL.
Sierra Browne v. Molly Molotov
This match was full of intense Strong Style type striking. I thought the two were going to injure one another with how much venom was behind their strikes. The match was back and forth, and Browne would pick up the victory after hitting Molly with a 2nd, "The Truth" Superkick.
While Sierra picked up the victory, I was more impressed with how Molly at points commanded the pace and was breaking down Sierra. One of these ladies are bound to be our inaugural Sirens Champion.
Next we heard from Derrick Ford before his Dangerous Championship match later tonight against Mario Speedwagon. While I'm not a fan of his attitude, Ford seems like an athlete who is mentally prepared to be successful.
After..well...this Mad Cow character..well..he gave an interview...I think..maybe..Well it was something...
Mad Cow v. The Great Atma
Atma(whom everyone knows is Alton West) could not compete with Mad Cow, who was surprisingly intelligent in the ring. He doesn't have a flashy skillset, but uses his size and weight to his advantage. He had his way with Atma, easily defeating him. I would love to see this guy and American Freebear face each other on the next show!
Next Blaze Crimson interviewed Mike Anderson, I will be the first to say, I can NOT stand Mike Anderson. He has a lot of skill and potential, but his head is shoved so far up his...well you get the idea.
He berated the former Dangerous Champion Max Turbo, who has shown to have a lot of ability in the ring. Anderson is one of the better young technicians I've seen in awhile, which gives him a chance against anyone in the ring, if he stays true to his approach.
Mike Anderson v. Max Turbo
This was a very competitive match, Max Turbo showed he definitely isn't a pushover, but Anderson seemed to have him uncomfortable the entire match. Turbo never got into the rhythm we saw him with when he became the Dangerous Champion.
Anderson would put Turbo away with his impressive Memphis Classic, Fisherman Suplex. Anderson is slowly starting to raise eyebrows in the wrestling community, I've read on a few forums where they feel Anderson will become a huge star in a few years, possibly making himself a multi-millionaire. He has the talent, he just may not be level headed enough to reach quite that high.
Next we saw Maurice Thompson speak to his parents in the back before his match with Corella, Thompson has shown flashes of greatness, and at other times shown the usual rookie mistakes.
Next we were in for a surprise as Owner of SOW, NJWF Wrestler, and Foundation Of Honor member Marcus Davis came out to greet the Bismark crowd. He promised great things in the future alliance between SOW and DCWL, and made a challenge to any DCWL wrestler to face him at, November 4ths, "Death Of A Ladies Man."
I for one am expecting Davis to begin his ascension in wrestling, while he is very talented his accomplishments in the States, as well as in Japan are a little short. He needs to begin collecting some hardware. It will be nice to see him compete in a DCWL ring though!
Next we heard from the DCWL Dangerous Champion, Mario Speedwagon just before his title defense against Derrick Ford. He's definitely an interesting guy...
DANGEROUS CHAMPIONSHIP - Derrick L. Ford v. Mario Speedwagon (c)
Derrick Ford controlled the tempo of the match, causing the new champion to be on the defensive the entire time. If it wasn't for Ford hitting the Gas Pump too close to the ropes, he may have become a two time Dangerous Champion. Speedwagon was saved by the fifteen minute time limit, which allowed Speedwagon to escape with his Championship...But, that was the highlight of his night.
Independent Star, "The Question" Doug Foster came from the back, he has been recently told by the SOW higher ups that if he ever wants a match with Marcus Davis he has to prove himself in DCWL. He proceeded to brutally beat Speedwagon with a chair and lock him in his Solution. There was no rhyme or reason behind the attack, so I'm interested in seeing how things turn out.
Leon Corella v. Maurice Thompson
Maurice Thompson surprisingly controlled a good portion of the match, pretty much beating up Leon Corella. His training definitely kicked in, being in front of his hometown crowd also played a factor as they were on their feet the entire match.
Corella was about to first kick out of the Native's Unite and then the Flight Of The Hidatsa, much to the displeasure of the crowd. After a vicious Powerbomb and a Running Lion Slam Corella was able to steal a victory in front of many of Thompsan's friends and family.
Corella answered some questions in defeating Thompson, but some still remain about his overall showing. The same could be said for Thompson, he may of controlled the match but in his inexperience was unable to put away Corella when he needed to. The match didn't get me down on Thompson, it just shows he still has a lot of work to do in order to become a real pro.
Within the last year, Leon Corella has done something to turn around his career. He is definitely in a position to make a big name for himself.
TRIOS CHAMPIONSHIP - STEEL CAGE: Unique Element v. The Annoyed Samoans (c)
The main event of the night was surprisingly short, and had a quick ending when Danny Gunderson of Unique Element rolled up Moses Pupulolo in his Don't Think Just Tap, Ankle Submission. The Referee quickly asked for the bell when he saw Moses' leg contorted in a terrible way. Moses never submitted, but with his injury, Unique Element became the Trios Champions.
Moore Notes
Following the show, I was able to catch up with Unique Element, they were very somber about what looks to be a serious injury for Pupulolo and said they would give the Samoans a rematch anytime.
The day following the show Mike Anderson accepted Marcus Davis' challenge for the match on, Death Of A Gentleman. Davis quickly responded saying he would face Anderson. I think this will see if Anderson is as great as he says, or still has a lot of room to grow.
I want to see which four wrestlers will be selected for the number one contenders match for the Grand Championship. The winner goes on to face Beckson in the main event, so they will have a lot of work ahead of them.
What Moore Wants
I want to see American Freebear wrestle Mad Cow, that would be a contrast of styles and mental stability!
Another match between Sierra Brown and Molly Molotov!
I would love to see Derrick Ford, Brian Irwin, Maurice Thompson, and Leon Corella compete for the opportunity to face Beckson. Ford has looked very sharp lately, Irwin almost defeated Beckson in the Grand Championship qualifying match, Leon Thompson is difficult to defeat, and I still think Thompson slides into the 4th slot. He may have had a tough defeat, but he did a lot to impress people.
Thank You Everyone!
OOC: Everything said is in-character, if you want your character to comment on the report, I encourage it! Makes things more interesting, feel free to lay into her as well!
