Name: Henry Spikes
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 280 lbs.
From: Washington, DC
Theme: "Don't Tread On Me" by Metallica
Strengths: Intellect, Ambition, Drive
Titles / Accolades:
- SPW General Manager
- Commissioner (DCWL - 2006-2008)
Appearance: Henry is a tall, striking man. Large without looking roided out. His black hair is brushed back, leaving his bright blue eyes completely unobstructed. Henry sports a black goatee surrounding his mouth, which is usually shaped in a wide, slimy grin that has been compared to a toad, a used car salesman, or (GASP!) a politician. Spikes wears a three piece suit, button down shirt, tie and dress shoes. Those who see him up close will notice a scar running along the back of his hand, a souvenir from his Commissionership in his previous fed.
Biography: There was a time when Henry Spikes was one of the hottest young names in politics. The son of a Congressman, he blazed his own trail by winning a spot on the DC City Council during his freshman year at Georgetown. Henry Spikes seemed destined to be the next great politician (just ask him).
It was shortly after moving to the DC suburb of Alexandria that he tried to run for a seat in the Virginia State Legislature. Hopelessly trailing in the polls, Spikes saw his last great chance to make up ground vanish after a poor performance (as a third party candidate) at the final debate. Outside of the debate, after a reporter makes a snide remark, Spikes accosts and assaults him. The ensuing arrest more or less killed any momentum his career had.
Henry tried to keep busy after the plea bargain left him with no career to speak of. Using the remaining campaign money and his father's veteran political colleagues, Spikes began a permanent campaign for any and every elected position that would have him. This campaign, called "Henry for America," relied upon advertising and word-of-mouth marketing to drum up any support. Though it failed in its primary mission, the HFA campaign did lead to a new opportunity in the field of professional wrestling.
The DCWL, looking for advertising dollars, sold advertising to the floundering campaign. As part of the deal, they gave him a spot on their programming to showcase his diplomatic talents. Henry, who loved wrestling as a boy and was looking for a way in to some of the name recognition and deep pockets in the fed, reveled in his role as a rabble-rouser. While the crowds did not appreciate Spikes, the experience emboldened him enough to call out the Interim Commissioner and challenge him to an election. Henry defeated the incumbent, "Lethal" JT Damon and popular hero Mark Haley to claim the Commissionership.
Henry's tenure was marked by partisanship, as his loose alliance with the War Measures Act resulted in many unpopular decisions. Still, the DCWL generally flourished with Spikes at the helm, staging successful events and bringing in new talent (including SPW Executive VP JDM Superstar and current broadcast journalist Tara Silver).
After Spikes's power was usurped by his Deputy Commissioner (who turned out to be a former owner of the DCWL and the new Executive Producer of the show), the company quickly faded. Henry had failed at his attempt in leading the company, a fact he reflected on every day of his unemployment. Despite the resignation of his chief advisor, Henry For America has come back online, hoping to get the future of Henry Spikes back on track.
When a special independent counsel needed to be created to investigate the legalities of SPW Operating procedures, Henry Spikes was recruited by G.M. "Syko" Angel Martinez to determine if the company was at risk. When Martinez disappeared, Spikes was asked to serve as Interim General Manager until Syko could be located. He now goes into Season 10 leading the forefront in on-air business and oversees the law in SPW. Since being attacked (by accident) by an Andrew Davis superkick, Henry Spikes has since returned and this time is the new official GM.
Henry Spikes is now currently Shootfire Pro Wrestling's Ambassador to the DCWL
